It was a bad day for Romney. The latest polls show Romney's momentum has turned to Nomentum. Colin Powell became the only endorsement that actually counts in this election. He not only came out and endorsed the president but he convincingly dismantled the Romney positions on both foreign and domestic policy. So much for Romney passing the commander in chief test. Another epic fail for Mr. Romney.
Then of course was Mr. Romney's own inexplicable stupidity in doubling down on the statements and endorsement of Richard Mourdock in Indiana, just as the republican party is finally realizing that they better stampede en mass from this pre-Neanderthal excuse for a senatorial candidate. But not the Romney / Ryan team. They have become so swept up in their fantasy trip to whatever planet they think they are going to govern, that they cannot see this misogynist candidate's slime and stink settling all over them.
No matter what the republican mainstream is saying while apologizing for Mourdock's outrage, Romney has only decided to place the albatross squarely around his neck along with the Lilly Ledbetter Act, and every other women's issue. We will probably find out that either tomorrow or Saturday, Mitt Romney will conveniently forget about having ever supported Mourdock's candidacy and having done an ad for him, but this one is going to stick. After the Todd Akin debacle, the Richard Mourdock disaster will be with Romney until election day. An epic fail for republicans and Romney. No amount of Romnesia will turn around this nomentum.
But if this wasn't bad enough, today also brought more bad news about Sensata, the Bain Company with strong Chinese ties. Union activity is going to speed up lay-offs at the company. Just what Romney needs when trying to lie his way into making people believe he will be a jobs president. That, paired with Koch businesses that are covertly implying to their workers that if they do not vote for Mr. Romney their jobs may be in jeopardy. Again, this close to an election, no amount of Romnesia will turn around this new nomentum.
The right wing machine is trying desperately to keep people who will vote democratic from voting on election day. They are selectively reporting only right wing polls. They are denying their bullying tactics. They are trying to discourage democrats from voting by shouting that the election of Mitt Romney is inevitable. That is a pile of bull. Let everyone get to the polls on election day. The results are going to be like 2008. President Obama will be re-elected because he has momentum, real momentum. He also has a plan and a ground game. Romney has Richard Mourdock, Todd Akin, and Paul Ryan. I like the President's chances.
